Greg and Kristi weren't able to come up for Christmas so when they did come we all went to Mel and Scotts and bombarded their new house. It fit all of us so well that there was no way to tell so many people were in their house. We had a wonderful time together and we all spent the night on Sunday the day after Christmas. You don't know how much I wish I could visit with you. I miss your daily phone calls so much. It seems like if you weren't lifting my spirits I was lifting yours. I am so thankful that you chose me, this horribly imperfect person to be your mom. You taught me so much. Your example of how to endure through hardships will never be forgotten. I can't believe all you went through in your short life. I have only had to deal with your same stuff for a couple of years and it's hard. I don't know how you were able to cope!! I had fun traveling to Utah this weekend to see two beautiful birthday girls. First, Sadie Mae Rich turned one year old on Saturday March 6th. I can't believe she's already such a little lady. She is such a doll toddling around everywhere and smiling so cute with her dimple. I wish I had a picture to put on here of her. What a DOLL. Second, Happy birthday to my beautiful daughter, Leslie, she turned 26 today. I am so proud of you sweetheart. It doesn't seem that long ago that we brought you home to a very excited family. You were so cute with all that thick black hair. You looked like a little Indian baby. Who would have ever thought you would have two little Indians!! My sweet, sweet eleven year old. I miss you so much. I miss your beautiful blond hair so thick and nice. I miss your big, beautiful, blue eyes. You have the cutest laugh ever. Time flies yet it takes too long. I still remember our last hug, our last words and Rylee's tearful goodbye. Her sweet spirit sensed her loss. I remember the urgency in your voice as you needed to spend time with her. I will never forget the care and compassion you had for those you loved and the time you would take to really listen to people. You lived through so many trials so you could learn all your lessons early. I remember the gratitude you gained in those last few years of family and friends. We would like to welcome to our 14th grandchild, Coulson Ryan Rich. He came to bless his mommy and daddy and begin their family on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. We are so excited to have him here with our family. Randy and I get to go see him on May 2, 2009. I think he looks so much like his daddy. Coulson is a very lucky boy to come into this world having so many, many people to love him. This is Heidi's family's first grandchild. He already has 13 cousins on the Rich side. I hope to be able to have a new grandchild picture sometime this summer with all 14 of my sweet babies. I don't have time right now to post a picture, but anyone who reads this will have already been to Nate and Heidi's blog.

I just had a fun week in California with my parents and with Lucy and family and also Bonnie and Bob came too with Kami and her two youngest.
It was wonderful to see mom and dad and I was thrilled with how good they both looked. This winter has been really hard on my parents because my dad has been really sick and in the hospital for a couple of months. It has been hard on my sweet mom to worry so about her sweetheart. It is so sad watching my parents grow older. I just have to remember that this is part of Heavenly Father's plan. I actually am quite excited for the time that we will all be together as a family for eternity. Randy and I have a bit of work to do first.
I had a really interesting experience on the jet traveling to San Diego. Just another testament to how family works on the other side of the veil. Thank you so much Melanie and Greg for making it possible for me to spend time with my family. I love you both so much and am so proud of your families.

Today was the superbowl and Randy and I were here by ourselves. We invited Grandma Doris over and she had lunch and watched the first half of the superbowl but she wanted to go home during halftime. Mel and Scott and family usually come and we do fondue but this year their church doesn't get finished until 6p.m.

As the superbowl was starting I really had a sense of missing Ryan. He would always call and wonder who we wanted to win and then we would have fun betting who would be the winner. Today as the Cardinals and Steelers were about to start I realized I didn't know much about the quarterbacks for the teams. Ryan would always fill us in with all of the details of each quarterback and why he hoped one or the other would win. Ryan was the one who got Randy and I to love football. Neither of us understood football until Ryan told us he wanted to play,(as his mother I certainly didn't want him to break his neck and get paralized) and to our surprise, he was an excellent football player and it was so fun to follow his team through jr. high and high school. He also helped Greg and Nathan to love and excel at the sport too. Randy and I have many fond memories of watching our boys play sports, and the girls cheer and dance.

I told Randy today while we were watching the football game that if Ryan were still alive he would probably have been moved here by now and practicing medicine in Burley. Randy said that he thought that Ryan would have maybe wanted to specialize into a certain area and would have still been doing some residency somewhere. I realized that Ryan actually already is working and specializing in doing the Lord's work. AND I know that he is enjoying his new job much more than any here on this earth.

I love each one of my sweet children sooooo much. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father allowed each one of you to come into our home. You have all taught us so much and you are all

We had so much fun with Nathan and Heidi while they were home for about six weeks. We partied through the holidays with them and all of our family. For Christmas, Nate and Heidi gave us a phase ten twist game. We love phase ten and like phase ten twist much more than the original. Even though those two are clear across the United States, with our blackberry phones we can play games together, chat and well I really don't know but with the internet and cell phones it is like they are still close. I haven't posted for so long that I forgot how to do this. These photos are from the fun we had with our family over New Years. We were all able to be together at our house and we had lots of fun with everyone. Melanie made some yummy pulled pork and we had other delicious foods and just played together all night. Grandma Doris was able to be with us too. We played Hunsaker's rock band all night and then in the morning we all went to the Wayside for breakfast. There were 21 of us without Rylee. We didn't get to see Rylee at all over the holidays, even though we hear she was in town.

I am going to try to steal some pictures from Greg and Kristi's blog and Mel and Scott's blog.

Come what may and love it was our theme this January for our sacrament services. It is a talk from the November Ensign. It is really what I needed to remember because I don't love some of the adversity that has come into our lives. Granted, I don't love not seeing Ryan or Rylee but I need to take some positive from every situation. It is fun to remember all the crazy things that Ryan did throughout his life. He was such a lover of life and wanted to live life to the extreme. I now see it was because he only had 33 years to experience everything. I am amazed that through all of his trials he was able to stay on top and endure to the end faithfully! I am also amazed how much he has been able to help his loved ones since his death. I can't believe it has been a year now and I feel somewhat empowered because I was able to make it through a year. I am one year closer to being able to be with him again. I am so grateful that he gave us Rylee. Ryan had such a strong bond with her and I know he is watching over her. Rylee is also so full of life. I am grateful for the memories we all have with her.

Without all of our family together for the holidays I don't think Randy and I could have made it through. Thank you Melanie, Greg, Nathan and Leslie, and each of your families, for spending
time with us. It was a blast and we are so grateful for each one of you. xoxo peace

Hi again, I have to post because Greg and Kristi and Kids are here. Greg is doing the Spudman triathilon (sp) tomorrow at 7 am. Good luck!!! Nate and Heidi got here tonight too. Greg and Kristi brought back Reese and Davis from Twin today so Grandpa is setting up the tent trailer for them to sleep in tonight with Austin, Alli & Ian. They usually don't last all night. We'll see. Grandpa usually starts a fire and then they tell scary stories. So fun. Wish all the Gkids were here. We did get to see Rylee for a couple of hours the other day. She is such a doll.

Sunday

Hi Family,
It's time for bed now but I love all of you so much. We had a good day, Dad and I went to Sacrament and then I taught my Sunday School lesson. I am glad I get to teach from the gospel doctrine lessons. My kids are the 16-17 year olds. They are fun. I just never have enough time to go through everything. I LOVE learning everything myself. Love the stories of the sons of Mosiah and what great missionaries they were.

After church I came home to guess what? _ _ _ _ _ ! of course. They were really good today. I will be excited to see Greg and Kristi and family and Nathan and Heidi this weekend. OHHH and I forgot, how could I forget!! We get to have Rylee this week on the 22, 23, and 24th. It will be three days of "what ever Rylee wants to do" I can't wait. I wish she could stay longer especially when Austin and Ian and Alli and Jill are here, but her mom said they would be busy on Friday and Saturday. I have to work on Friday and Saturday anyway because of sidewalk sales.

It was so fun this last weekend. Greg and Kristi and kids came up for a wedding of Kristi's cousin. Leslie and Tavis and kids were already here. Nate decided to come home because he was alone since Heidi was with her family in Utah waiting for the American Idol concert on Monday. Then Rylee surprised us and was able to come over Sunday for a few hours and so when Melanie found out they were all here, their family came from Twin. It was so much fun to have all twelve of our grandkids here at the house at one time. Leslie took some pictures of the kids and I hope to have one pretty soon.

It has been pretty quiet around here since everyone left. When we bought our house almost 25 years ago(with four kids and one on the way) I never imagined Randy and I would be lonely at this big old house. It does happen once in a while.

I am so proud of each of my five children. They have grown to mature, responsible wonderful adults in spite of me being their mom. I am so happy for Greg and Kristi because he just finished his residency in anesthesiology. He is finally practicing his profession. It has been a long twelve years of schooling and sacrifice for their family. Nate is about two days away from finishing his degree in business finance. So happy for Heidi and him. They will stay in Rexburg a little while longer to do an internship and take a couple more classes. Mel and Scott are in Twin Falls where Scott is part owner in a sucessful accounting firm. Love them being sooo close to us. Leslie and Tavis are the best photographers! Tavis has been very busy this summer shooting weddings. He loves to do weddings and does an amazing job. Tavis is still working on his degree. Ryan, you will always be my hero.
